Alcoholism and drug addiction centres in Nova Scotia
The Nova Scotia Department of Health provide Addiction Services in each of its eight District Health Authorities. Addiction Services provide counselling and education services on an out-patient basis, based on a model of prevention and harm reduction, but do not run any full-time residential programs.
Residential treatment is provided by the Crosbie House Society, a registered charity which offers Monday-Friday programs with clients returning home each weekend. The programs are based around a 12-step approach promoting abstinence from drugs and alcohol.
Ledgehill Treatment and Recovery Centre is the only facility in Nova Scotia offering full-time seven-days-per-week addiction recovery programs.
